Cosmetic Surgery Can Transform The Way You Feel About Yourself

Cosmetic and plastic surgery provides us ability to do more than just alter our appearance and find beauty through a plastic surgery procedure like a breast augmentation or a face lift. Plastic surgery can also restore self esteem, and self confidence which ultimately changes the way we feel, and in turn, change the ways in which we interact with the world around us. The terms "Plastic surgery" and "cosmetic surgery" cover a large variety of different procedures, which are designed to alter and/or restore beauty and a youthful appearance.

Procedures such as breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tucks, etc. are meant to shape areas of the body and provide a more pleasing contour. Procedures such as laser skin resurfacing, facial peels and microdermabrasion are utilized to and soften and improve skin tone while Dermal Filler and Botox injections, are beneficial in reducing and eliminating wrinkles and fine lines.

The Consultation Is An Important Part Of Plastic Surgery

The plastic surgery consultation is an opportunity to meet your plastic surgeon, get comfortable with one another and most importantly, you will discuss with your plastic surgeon the areas of your appearance for which you desire improvement. When you contact the plastic surgeon's office to schedule your consultation, the surgeon's staff will send an you a packet that contains important information. This packet should include information about the plastic surgeon, the Surgeon's office, policies and of course, information about your chosen plastic surgery procedure as well as information about the surgical facility where the procedure will be performed. It is important that you completely read and fully understand this information in order for you to be aware of what to expect, the surgery process and options available to you prior to your consultation. This packet will also includes a patient questionnaire about you, and your medical history.

During your consultation, the surgeon will perform an examination. Depending on the procedure, the surgeon will measure the area(s) of concern, take notes and the surgeon may also take "before" photos. The surgeon will discuss with you the options available for your procedure, such as the size of breast implants. In addition the surgeon will also offer his recommendations for you. You and your plastic surgeon will also thoroughly review the planned procedure, what to expect as you recover and your anticipated results.

Liposuction is Not a Weight-loss Alternative, But it Can Help With Trouble Spots

No matter how much you diet and exercise, there can be excess fat in certain places that sometimes just won't go away. Liposuction, also known as liposculpting or bodysculpting are all terms to describe removing excess fat cells from targeted areas of the body. Liposuction is used to contour and shape the body and is often used as a complementary surgical technique to facelifts and body surgery. Liposuction is not a weight-loss alternative. It is a treatment for those persistent pockets of fat resulting from hereditary, age and areas unaffected by diet and exercise. The best candidates have good skin with healthy elasticity.

Liposuction is safer and more effective than before due to advances in technology, technique and defined standards. All liposuction is essentially suction-assisted lipectomy, the removal of fat from the body through a form of suction. Tusmescence, a treatment administered just prior to liposuction involves infusing the areas to be treated with a solution to help plump up the fat cells to make them easier to remove, and control the amount of pain and bruising after the procedure. Even though technology has improved and the techniques have been refined, the ultimate outcome is influenced by the surgeon's aesthetic eye. A Plastic surgeon uses small precise instruments to sculpt and create the smoothest contours and the most natural shape.

What It Takes to Be a Top Plastic Surgeon in San Francisco

All too often, many people think of plastic surgeons as Doctors who decided not to pursue a more in depth field of medicine such a heart surgeon, or neurological surgeon, etc. What most do not realize is that the myth of plastic surgery being a fly by night industry is not true, and while there are those surgeons who do a good job at furthering that myth, the majority of plastic surgeons are caring, skilled and experienced doctors with a sharp eye for the details.

Realize that plastic surgery is a very in depth field. Everyday a large number of plastic surgeons take a role in advancing the techniques and methods used in order to make plastic surgery procedures safer, and increase the probability of successful surgical procedures. Currently there are many techniques, and advancements for products such as breast Implants in clinical trials, being tested, research data is being recorded, and Patients taking part in these trails feedback and experiences are being sought- all in an effort to improve plastic surgery as a whole.

In order for a plastic surgeon in San Francisco to excel, be successful and maintain a positive reputation, "it takes a tireless work ethic, never ending study and education, and a desire to help people become the best they can be" states Dr James Anthony. Many of these successful plastic surgeons are also talented artists, and that natural artistic quality carries over into plastic surgery.

In short, to become and remain a successful plastic surgeon, one must always maintain a compassionate desire to help others, and do everything possible to further advance the technology, surgical methods and techniques that make plastic surgery procedures and successful results a reality.

Breast Augmentation Basics

One decision more and more women are making everyday is to have cosmetic surgery in particular breast enhancement surgery (a procedure to enhance the size of your breasts by using implants – saline implants or silicone implants.) Implants are indicated for females where the patient is at least 18 years of age, and for reconstruction of the female breast. A plastic surgeon is able to increase a woman's bust line by one or more bra cup sizes. Advances in technology and surgical technique are making cosmetic surgery a popular option among women of all ages desiring a change in the way they look. The decision to undergo breast enhancement surgery may result in a more flattering, better proportioned figure, more clothing options, and may enhance your confidence and self-esteem.

Many women desiring breast augmentation never fully developed and have been self-conscious of their appearance since youth. Others have had children and noticed significant shrinkage and sagging of the breast tissue following childbirth or breast-feeding. Other still just simply want an enlargement or have more fullness to the breasts. All these women have the desire to look proportional and feel attractive.

Most women know that they want to look better, but they don't know how to get there. If they are happy with the position of the breasts are, usually a breast implant is the answer. If they start to have some droop to the breast, then the recommendations may change depending on how much droop there is.

Make sure you consult with a plastic surgeon and do your research prior to undergoing breast augmentation surgery. Ensure all your questions are answered and you fully understand the surgery procedure. Do not take this step lightly, it can mean the difference between a successful surgery with results you love, and a surgical nightmare. There are many websites out there providing plastic surgery information, the best I have discovered in lookingyourbest.com- a free site offering a wealth of accurate information on breast surgery, and a free service to help you locate a qualified specialist in your area.

Types of Face Lift Procedures

The Mini Lift (also referred to as a Short scar face lift) is a less invasive procedure with a shorter recovery time than its more traditional cousin, the full face lift. The Mini face Lift is an ideal procedure for women who are just starting to note deepening lines on their face, sagging of the skin over their lower face and jaw line, and perhaps some laxity of their neck.

You may be a good candidate for this procedure if you are a woman in your early 40s and don't want to wait for noticeable signs of aging to alter your appearance. The Mini Lift is also a useful secondary procedure if you have previously had a face lift and are starting to notice the signs of age again making an appearance.

A Modified Face Lift is the right choice if you are a woman in your late 40s or early 50s and notice more laxity in your face and neck but still not very much. You surgeon will help you determine whether you are the right candidate for this procedure.

In a Modified Face Lift, the incision made to the face is similar to the Mini Lift but extends behind the ear, and there may be need for an additional incision under the chin. This allows Dr. Lofman to reposition the fallen soft tissues and tighten the lax neck muscles as well as remove more redundant skin than a Mini-Lift would allow.

The Full Face Lift is designed for you if older than 55 or have significant laxity of the soft tissues of your face and neck. While it requires a longer incision, skillful surgical technique ensures the incision is placed inconspicuously.

The Full Face Lift effectively restores your youthful appearance and should give you back at least 15 years that time has taken away. This is achieved by tightening the underlying lax muscles, doing so in a way that does not leave the typical signs of a face lift.

A face lift may also be combined with other facial procedures such as eyelid surgery or a brow lift. During your private consultation with your chosen plastic surgeon, he/she will explain in full detail the varying aspects of these different procedures and what other techniques may be available to help you achieve realistic results.
